| About
the Leather We Use! |
| Leather
is still the most suitable material for saddles
and tack. It breathes, allows evaporation and
ventilation, and conforms to horse and rider.
We use FULL GRAIN
leathers for our saddles and strap goods. This
leather is not cosmetically manipulated. It
remains in its full strength and natural form with
all its layers intact. It contains a high fat
content which is the life blood of leather.
Despite its durability it is soft and supple, will
not crease much, and has high tensile strength.
The flesh side is fine-grained and smooth with
open pores.
Our full grain
leathers are hand selected from a rather limited
amount of suitable hides. |

Scars, skin
imperfections and shade differences are
natural characteristics of genuine full
grain leather and prove its authenticity.

During the lengthy
VEGETABLE TANNING process our hides are only
treated with natural vegetable ingredients which
are derived from Fir bark, Oak bark and chippings
from the Acacia tree.
Our tannery ANILINE
DYES all our leathers by soaking the hides in dye
drums. During this process the color penetrates
deep into the leather from both sides. Aniline
dyeing ensures that the color does not rub off,
and that scratches and marks are not easily
detectable. A final dressing process gives the
leather a rich feel, and a grippy surface. At the
same time, it makes the leather sweat and mildew
resistant. |
